Contract Services
At Calgon Carbon Engineered Solutions, we endeavor to meet and exceed
our customers' expectations by providing a full range of services,
including on-site technical services, a state-of-the-art research
facility, complete maintenance contracts and custom chemical
manufacturing.
Odor Control Research
Calgon Carbon Corporation invests more than $5.7 million annually in
research and development to advance the technology of purifying air,
water, and chemical processing.
With dozens of scientists working in our 40,000-square-foot
laboratories, we have introduced several advancements to the
community. In the mid-90s, we introduced Centaur®, a catalytically
enhanced carbon and the Phoenix Odor Control systems for
municipal applications. One of most recent introductions is the
Sentinel UV Disinfection technology utilizing low and
medium-pressure UV to treat drinking water against cryptosporidum and
giardia.
With more than 1,700 installations worldwide, many customers prefer
Calgon Carbon's extensive network of service technicians to provide
periodic maintenance and regular inspections of equipment. A modest
monthly fee that covers labor, travel, living expenses, spare parts,
media, and chemicals as specified allows the end user to outsource
these critical services to the most qualified provider the
manufacturer.
Our service contract programs can include:
- Outsourced period maintenance and regular inspections.
- Systematic analytical testing of treated streams for regulatory compliance.
- Emergency services to ensure that equipment is maintained in service.
Calgon Carbon Corporation provides contract manufacturing services for
clients with its ISEP®/CSEP® continuous ion exchange separations
equipment. These services are available on a laboratory, pilot plant,
or full-scale production basis. Each customer is provided with
customized process engineering design support to ensure that the
manufacturing process meets their specific separation
requirements. Full analytical laboratory support, including computer
modeling, is also available to demonstrate product quality.
Four systems with 1/8" and 1/4" valves are available,
including an explosion-proof system and two portable systems.
This Calgon Carbon Engineered Solutions continuous processing valve
technology is utilized in cGMP processes to produce
pharmaceutical-grade products. Examples of demonstrated results in
complex applications include:
- Chelate process development to eliminate dangerous batch
processing and produce higher yield and higher purity
- Use of a proprietary separations media to separate cis/trans
isomers with similar boiling points
- Amino acid recovery from fermentation systems with high yield and
high purity
- Recovery of a multi-million dollar oncology drug from a solvent
mixture containing impurities
